36th Annual Memorial in Girard, KS
The Officers and Firefighters of The Girard Fire Department, in conjunction with Crawford County Fire District # 4 and The Southeast Kansas Firefighter Honor Guard, would like to cordially invite you as well as any members from your department and their families to attend our annual memorial. This year will mark our 36th Annual Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial and will be held Sunday, October 15th at 2:00 P.M. at the Girard Fire Department – 116 N Ozark, Girard Ks 66743.
This year’s memorial will be recognizing the 144 firefighter’s that were added to the National Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland. A complete breakdown of those that we are honoring at this year’s memorial can be found at the link below:

Additionally we will be Honoring 21 firefighter’s that have died in the Line of Duty in the Southeast Kansas Area dating back to 1911. This year’s memorial will include the unfortunate unveiling of Fire Chief Stanly L. Giles with Linn Valley Lakes Fire Department who passed away on February 10, 2010 and Firefighter Joshua C. Haynes with Linn County Rural Fire District # 1 who passed away June 22, 2022.
We encourage any honor guard members that wish to assist in recognizing our fallen brothers and sisters to participate. I would ask that if you are wishing to participate in the memorial to please contact me so we can plan accordingly.
